The original classification arose out of the historical environment in Bordeaux. As of February 2020, all Cru Bourgeois estates have undergone a review of multiple criteria by an independent body. This includes blind tasting and environmental considerations at the foundation. Cru Bourgeois now presents a modern, evolving category that offers consumers confidence.
